When it comes to budget, a lot of potential advertisers are curious about exactly how much should they spend on media?
The US Small Business Association or SBA recommends that you spend something like 7 to 8 percent of your revenue on advertising and growing your company. That includes not just your media spend, but services, branding, strategy, your website, etc.
When it comes to media though the question persists how much should I actually spend on something like Facebook ads, Google ads, or even television ads, or newspaper ads and more.
The answer, of course, is different for every company, depends on your circumstances, and what your goals are, but a question that often comes up for advertisers is what does the biggest advertiser in the US spend every year?
The answer may surprise you.

The top 200 advertisers spent a combined $163 billion dollars a year on advertising
There were $106 billion dollars spent on internet advertising specifically which equated to about 2/3rds of the total amount the top 200 advertisers spent.
According to a report put together by Adage the largest advertiser in the world is:
Comcast Corporation who spends a staggering 6.12 billion with a B dollars a year.
This works out to over 16 million dollars per day in advertising spend.
However, it is interesting to note that the single biggest brand (not company) that spent on advertising which actually Geico
If you’re wondering what the context of this spend is, General Motors, which is number 5 on the top spenders’ list shelled out roughly half of that at 3.14 billion. While this is an absolutely staggering amount of money, you may wonder where does it all go?
So there you have it, while it’s unrealistic and unhelpful to compare your spend to the top advertisers in the world it is an interesting datapoint to show how large some of these spends can get.
